Vacationing At Doheny State Beach

I have had some really nice vacations, but one of the most memorable experiences would have to be staying at Doheny beach down in Dana Point California with my family.

We were right on the beach, it was great, look outside and there was the ocean, just beating against the sandy beach. At night time sitting next to the bomb fire you could look up and see a thousand stars, it was perfect. What I also liked about this campground is that, it makes you feel secluded with out being far from everything. There are plenty of restaurant’s and shops around. We ate at this place called Harpoon Henry’s over looking the ocean and boat docks ( I recommend the Parmesan crusted halibut ), and if you don’t feel like fish there’s El Torrito ( Mexican food ) next door. After feeling up on some awesome food, we walked around the cool little shops, and checked out the tide pools. I wish I was still there, maybe that’s why for fourteen years Doheny State Beach is the readers’ choice as the County’s “Best Camping Site” in the Orange County Register’s 14th Annual Best of Orange County survey. It’s got my vote!

Note: Last I remember they use to shut down the beach to public access after 8pm, which made it nice for the guest staying at the campground. Also call in advance for the best RV spots.
